Arda Akman.
I am software developer and history buff.
I am a Software Engineer who has interests in backend development, infastructure and developer tooling. Currently trying to learn more about Golang and Docker.
About Me
Hello! My name is Arda and I enjoy creating working on projects that are meant for scale. My interest in backend development started during my time at Berkeley where I got to teach about Machine Structures and Low Level Programming. I have been hacking around projects every since then, and looking forward to learn more about software engineering every day.
Currently, I am working as a Software Engineer at Sigma Computing, the best BI tool in the market. I am glad to be part of a great team of engineers and people, and I always try to learn more about other people and what they are working on. My main focus currently is learning more about how to build the infastructure and business logic for large projects.
Most recently, I worked on an online shopping tool that helps you find the best product matches for you on the internet! This was done together with my friend Deniz Birlikci.

Where I’ve Worked
Backend Engineer @ Sigma Computing
June 2024 - Present
- Leading projects within the Data-Governance team, regarding solutions around authentication, permission, auditing and security. Ensuring customer audit data pipelines are efficient using dbt, and working on authentication functionality like Oauth, Saml and more.
- Working on the Sigma Computing public API to ensure the API is complete in every way and provides data in an efficient manner. Ensuring API security.
- Collaborate with designers and product managers to create enterprise ready solutions for enterprise customers such as big banks and financial instutitons.
- Using technologies such as AWS, MySql, Snowflake/Snowpark, Typecript, Golang, React and Kubernetes.
